Riley Thomson
(1915 - 1959?/65?, USA)

Riley A. Thomson was an artist of the "second generation" of great Disney artists, along with Manuel Gonzales and Jack Bradbury. He began his career in 1935 as an animator of Warner Bros 'Merry Melodies'. He went to Disney in 1938, where he began animating several 'Mickey' shorts, as well as the famous 'Sorcerer's Apprentice' from the 'Fantasia' film. He continued his successful animating career doing various shorts with 'Mickey Mouse' or 'Donald Duck'. From the early 1950s, he began drawings comics with Disney characters for Western Publishing.

After about 30 stories with the 'Duck' characters, Thomson took over the 'Brer Rabbit' Sunday page from Dick Moores in late 1950, which he continued until 1959. He also briefly drew the 'Mickey Mouse' daily strip. Thomson returned to animation in 1957, doing 'Woody Woodpecker'. Riley Thomson (also known as Riley Thompson) died either in September 1959, or in May 1965.

That is the most extensive information
I've EVER heard about Mr. Thomson.

Thank you!

It's Sooooo nice to hear about the unsung heroes of animation other than the same 9 old men we keep hearing about over and over again.
