Class-Action Action

When we put up various posts about the collusion settlement between Pixar, Industrial Light and Magic, and the Department of Justice, TAG caught the attention of a legal office up north. We were contacted by bay area law firm Meade & Schrag a few days back, and after some back-and-forth on the telephone, they sent along this e-mail ...

... The DOJ settled the claims against Lucasfilm and Pixar, but left the door open for current and former employees to bring a class action lawsuit to try to recover monetary damages. ... [Our] firm is investigating this issue and looking to file an antitrust class action suit against Lucasfilm and Pixar. If you have any information that might be helpful, feel free to contact us at michael@meadeschrag.com or 510-843-3670.

Michael Schrag, attorney

I told lawyers at the firm that TAG didn't have much in the way of contacts with I.L.M. or Pixar, but we would pass the word that they were looking to right some wrongs and reaching out to former employees.

So if anybody reading this fits the category of employee/ex-employee at one of the above-named companies, and thinks they have a case, now you've got a number to call.

A current Pixie or ILeMing who is on staff joining a class action lawsuit? I don't see that happening.

That little gold plastic C3PO that you get for being here 20 years is worth so much more than recovering any damages....

But many Pixarians have left for greener pastures in the past two to three years who were most likely affected by the collusion. I'm sure there are enough of them who'd be interested in filing a lawsuit, provided this law firm can reach them.

LOL!

Pixar/Disney had many sign release documents on their way out the door.

Clever, clever is the Mouse.

Lucas: worst place I've ever worked at. The guy makes more money than anyone in the industry and he doesn't pay decent salaries. And on top of that, he's sending tons of jobs to Singapore instead of rewarding the talented artists at home in the states that would love the opportunity.

And I'd be surprised if anyone came out against Lucas in this lawsuit... the man has an army of lawyers just waiting for the next soul to crush.

The person with the most inside information about salary collusion would be the ex-President of ILM, Jim Morris.

Too bad though, he's now the current President of Pixar.

See how that works?

That's disgusting.

And the head of Pixar is the head of Disney Feature Animation.

Collusion complete.

Makes me wonder what will happen when he retires.

As an Ex ILeMing, I have no love lost for the man in the Ivory Tower. BUT... Has anyone asked themselves, "Why would this law firm go to so much effort to 'right this wrong'?"

It must be that they are generally GOOD people that just want to reach out and help those that have been trodden upon, right? WRONG!!! They are blood sucking parasites in search of DEEP POCKETS in which to insert their dirty little fingers!!

The ONLY reason any law firm would even CONSIDER going up against the Lucas Legal Machine is for THEIR OWN financial gains - not to help right any wrongs!! In any class action lawsuit the only big winners are the legal firms that prosecute them.

So, if you are wanting to join this effort just to F#!k with LucasFilm (and I can understand that desire!) then go for it... just don't expect much (if any) personal financial gain and realize you are being USED to line the pockets of some Shyster!
